Advancing to the rank of Jr. Plastormian® aint easy! As evidenced by these two handmade dog tags, which took over a month to finalize. The pictures above are the two tags in their display box, just before sealing the package and sending it off to their new owners!

Laplace's Demon

"We may regard the present state of the universe as the effect of its past and the cause of its future. An intellect which at a certain moment would know all forces that set nature in motion, and all positions of all items of which nature is composed, if this intellect were also vast enough to submit these data to analysis, it would embrace in a single formula the movements of the greatest bodies of the universe and those of the tiniest atom; for such an intellect nothing would be uncertain and the future just like the past would be present before its eyes."  - Pierre Simon Laplace, A Philosophical Essay on Probabilities

Hombre Pájaro

*This painting was completed with the help of Sonia, a lovely waitress at the La Conchiglia bar nestled atop the incredible coastline village of Riomaggiorë, part of Cinque Terra, Italy. After watching me work on the piece at my table for a bit, she finally came over and told me what it reminded her of.... and... BOOM! That was it! All it took was a quick google search on my phone to realize IT WAS Hombre Pájaro! I immediately told her she had just named and sealed the final direction of this painting. I also promised to send it to her when done, which I plan to do shortly after posting this entry.

Power Always Thinks it Has a Great Soul

“Power always thinks it has a great soul and vast views beyond the comprehension of the weak;
and that it is doing God’s service when it is violating all his laws.” - John Adams

This piece is, perhaps, my longest composition to date. It was started in the latter quarter of 2017 -- then really took flight during Portland Open Studios in October (2017). I used the (at the time) raw-layered canvas as an example of how my pieces begin, as messy conglomerates of nebulous storm clouds. It was during Open Studios, showing visitors how I use Ink Mops to block out noise, that the wolf slowly emerged. And that's how the fire started! It was then a matter of listening to and culling the storm.
