... 5 Heads in an X-Mas Bag ...
These are the 5 panels that will be part of the Peoples Art of Porltand's Big 500 show, opening Dec 13. Each piece is a symbiote of the other; a variation of the same skull structure.
The show will exhibit the work of hundreds of local artists, each given the same 8x8 blank panels.
All work sells for $40/per piece ($30/artist, $10/gallery & Oregon Food Bank)
All work is cash and carry! Meaning, you like a piece - you buy it and leave with it then and there.
My Pieces (from left to right)
1. There is No Democracy in Truth
2. The Devil is in the Details
3. My Own Skull Orchard
4. The Physics of Motion
5. Invædor

So close -- yet so far! I've been forced to put most of my larger pieces on secondary burners so I can focus on completing the panels I'll be featuring in this year's Big 500 show at The Peoples Art of Portland. The show opens Saturday, December 13, 2014. I've already completed several panels -- with more on the way (pictured on drafting table, far right). I'll post them in their entirety once all are finished.

Portland is currently experiencing a late summer, which has afforded me the time to finish the last of my fall prep for both my house and studio. My homemade solar heater is now completely online -- and it actually works! It generates an incredible amount of heat by creating a natural convection system within my studio. A fan pushes the cold air out (pic.1). The air passes through a gigantic black box (pic.2) filled with aluminum screens that heat up when hit by sunlight. That air (now hot) gets blown back into the studio (pic.3). The main collector has actually become so hot it has started to burst its insulation! Which is why I now know to wait until fall has actually started to bring it online. The box actually got hotter than the max temp of my temperature gauge over the weekend!
I also constructed a rain barrel that provides water for my slop sink (pic.4)!
Now, it's back to work. I mean, really, really back to work. Full social hibernation. I'm actually looking forward to the start of the rainy weather so I can't even think of taking up another outdoor retrofit!

End-of-Summer household//professional obligations have kept me from appending to the 20 pieces that currently cover every inch of my studio. Since each piece is made-up of nothing more than a dozen or so layers, nothing pictured will even remotely resemble that piece's final phase.
